Gary Neville delivers ‘dream’ verdict on Tottenham’s defence

Gary Neville says Tottenham Hotspur have a dream defence this season

Gary Neville says Mauricio Pochettino deserves credit for creating Tottenham Hotspur’s “dream” defence.

The Lilywhites have the best defensive record in the Premier League so far this season despite facing the likes of Jurgen Klopp’s free-scoring Liverpool and leaders Manchester City at White Hart Lane.

Pochettino’s side were 2-0 winners against the Citizens thanks to Aleksandar Kolarov’s own goal before England midfielder Dele Alli scored his first Premier League goal of the campaign.

Tottenham have only conceded three goals in seven Premier League games so far, with only Liverpool, Middlesbrough and Everton finding the net against the north London side this season.

Former Manchester United defender Neville lavished praise on Pochettino and his Tottenham defence following their morale-boosting win against Guardiola’s side.

“It’s a dream back four,” Neville told Sky Sports.

”That’s Mauricio Pochettino’s work. I’ve been down to Tottenham and seen them train. The details… the way that he trains them and the way he goes about his coaching.”

Tottenham are in second place in the Premier League table and a point behind current leaders Manchester City after seven games.
