Gary Neville admitted that Manchester United succeeded in their game-plan of stopping Liverpool after the Reds were held to a goalless draw by Jose Mourinho’s men at Anfield on Monday night.

Chances were few and far between on Merseyside as the Red Devils held firm and manage to keep Jurgen Klopp’s side at bay.

Emre Can and Philippe Coutinho were the only two players to test David De Gea in the United goal in what was an otherwise quiet night for the shot-stopper.

And speaking during Sky Sports‘ coverage of the game, former Manchester United defender Neville said: “It must be frustrating for the Liverpool manager.

“His team have played nothing like they have been all season. United have stopped them.”

The draw leaves Manchester United in seventh place in the Premier League table after eight games and five points behind leaders Manchester City. The Red Devils travel to Chelsea on Sunday afternoon in their next game.
