Gary Neville’s warning to Jose Mourinho after Man United’s loss to Chelsea
The former Manchester United defender has his say after the Red Devils' 4-0 loss to Chelsea on Sunday
Gary Neville has warned Jose Mourinho that he must find his best Manchester United team – and quickly – after their 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Chelsea on Sunday.
The Portuguese coach watched his side be torn apart by the Blues at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon as the Red Devils failed to click into gear in west London.
Goals from Pedro Rodriguez, Gary Cahill, Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante secured a thumping victory for the home side and sent United crashing to their third Premier League defeat of the season after just nine games.
Mourinho’s team are now seventh in the Premier League and six points behind leaders Manchester City after nine games of the new campaign.
And former Manchester United defender Neville believes that it is important for the Red Devils to bounce back immediately because of the pressure now mounting on manager Mourinho.
Speaking on Sky Sports after Sunday’s game, Neville said: “Mourinho is still finding his way with this United team and they’re not strong enough.
“Today, they got a little bit shoddy in the second half. The first goal is a joke, in the first 30 seconds you’re dead.
“I would say that Chelsea have a far better build-up to games at the moment as they have free weeks to be able to coach. It’s an advantage for Antonio Conte and for teams that have that.
“But Jose has to get around that because the pressure will continue to keep building. United must get into the top four and at the moment there is a small gap there that will be concerning.”
Manchester United host Manchester City in the fourth round of the League Cup on Wednesday night.
