Gianluca Vialli makes bold claim about Antonio Conte and Chelsea

The former Chelsea manager is backing the current head coach to guide the Blues back to the top of the table

Gianluca Vialli is confident that Antonio Conte will restore Chelsea to the top of the Premier League table.

The Italian took over the reins of the west London club at the end of the 2015-16 season after the west London side finished in tenth place.

Conte masterminded successive Premier League victories over West Ham United, Watford and Burnley in their opening three games.

However, Chelsea failed to secure three points in September after a draw with Swansea City before defeats by top-four rivals Arsenal and Liverpool.

The former Juventus boss has managed to steady the west London club in recent weeks after a 2-0 win at Hull City and Saturday’s 3-0 victory over defending Premier League champions Leicester City.

Ex Chelsea manager Vialli believes Conte will ultimately be a success with the Blues despite a mixed start to his reign at Stamford Bridge.

“Antonio Conte will get them to where they belong – which is at the top of the table,” Vialli told Sky Sports on Saturday afternoon.
