Glenn Hoddle delivers glowing verdict on Liverpool midfielder

Glenn Hoddle was extremely impressed by Jordan Henderson's performance in England's win over Malta

Glenn Hoddle has heaped praise on Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson following his strong performance for England during their 2-0 win over Malta on Saturday night.

The England international was in fine form and produced one of his best displays in a Three Lions shirt as he helped Gareth Southgate’s men claim victory at Wembley.

Henderson has earned plenty of praise for his performance as goals from Daniel Sturridge and Dele Alli handed the home side victory.

The Liverpool captain was one of England’s standout players from an otherwise uninspiring game, and completed 165 passes – more than any other player on the pitch and five more than Malta managed in total.

And former Tottenham Hotspur boss was full of praise for the Liverpool star after Saturday’s victory.

Writing in his column for The Daily Mail, Hoddle said: “Jordan Henderson played our most probing passes.

“It was one of his best games for England and I would have thought he’s played himself into the team for Tuesday’s more awkward game in Slovenia.”

Henderson will be expecting to feature for Liverpool when the Reds return to Premier League action after the international break with a home clash against Manchester United on Monday 17 October.
