Glenn Hoddle: This is where Man United manager should play Daley Blind

The former Tottenham manager would like to see Daley Blind get a chance in the Manchester United midfield

Glenn Hoddle has urged Jose Mourinho to try Daley Blind in a central-midfield role for Manchester United.

The Red Devils boss has chopped and changed his United midfield since Mourinho was appointed as Louis van Gaal’s successor in May.

Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera have battled it out for the right to partner world-record £89m signing Paul Pogba in the heart of Mourinho’s side.

Veteran England midfielder Michael Carrick made a rare start for the 20-time English champions on Thursday night as United were 4-1 winners against Turkish side Fenerbahce at Old Trafford.

However, former Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur manager Hoddle believes Netherlands international Blind could be the answer to Mourinho’s midfield conundrum.

“I have a thing about Daley Blind. Blind in centre midfield has a wonderful range of passing. Probably even better than Michael Carrick at times. I think they can improve that midfield,” Hoddle told BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight show.

Blind has established himself as a regular at centre-half at United under Louis van Gaal and his replacement Mourinho.

However, the versatile Dutch defender has been shuffled out to left-back in recent weeks following Luke Shaw’s poor performance at Watford.
