Graeme Souness explains where new Man United signing falls short

Graeme Souness says Manchester United must try and make the most of Paul Pogba's physical attributes

Graeme Souness says Manchester United must try to make the most of Paul Pogba’s physical attributes as the Red Devils look to get the best out of the midfielder this season.

The 23-year-old is currently getting to grips with life back at Old Trafford following his big-money return to the Premier League club from Juventus in the summer.

Pogba is yet to truly hit top gear for Jose Mourinho’s men this season and despite being a regular fixture in the starting line-up, has only scored one Premier League goal so far this term.

The France international will face plenty of pressure in the coming months to live up to his big price-tag.

And former Liverpool man Souness has given his verdict on how the Red Devils should go about getting the best form out of the midfielder.

Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Monday morning, Souness said: “I think you’ve got to maximise his athleticism. He looks like a wonderful athlete, someone who could do that box-to-box thing for a full 90 minutes at the same pace and never dip from it.

“I see his problem – he’s got the technique, he drops a shoulder he throws a leg over the ball – I don’t see him having a great understanding of the game.”
