Granit Xhaka makes honest admission to Arsenal fans

Granit Xhaka discusses his start to life at Arsenal this season...

Granit Xhaka has told Arsenal fans not to expect him to score for the club every week, despite his recent brilliant strikes.

The Switzerland international has enjoyed a strong start to life at Arsenal after joining the club early in the summer transfer window.

Xhaka scored against both Hull City and Nottingham Forest for Arsene Wenger’s men as he netted his first goals for the club with two superb strikes.

However, the 23-year-old midfielder has told Arsenal fans not to get too used to seeing him score such goals regularly.

Speaking in an interview with Arsenal Player, Xhaka said: “I’m not somebody who will score a goal every weekend, but I’m always proud and happy when I do score – and if it’s from long range, then it makes me even happier.

“It’s one of my strengths – shooting from long range. Sometimes it comes off, sometimes it doesn’t, but when they do go in, it makes me proud.

“It’s always special to score your first goal for a new club. Of course this was a goal to make it 4-1, so it wasn’t that crucial, but for me it was very important and one I won’t forget. It makes me proud.”

Xhaka will be expecting to feature for Arsenal when the Gunners return to action after the international break with a home clash against Swansea City.
