Harry Redknapp believes Liverpool are genuine Premier League title contenders this season.

The Reds are second favourites to win the Premier League crown behind Pep Guardiola’s leaders Manchester City after an impressive start to the season under Jurgen Klopp.

The Merseyside outfit signed seven players in the summer transfer window as the manager looked to build on an eighth-place finish in the table after Klopp’s appointment in October 2015.

Liverpool have beaten top-four rivals Arsenal and Chelsea on the road in the Premier League this season, while the 18-time English champions beat Leicester City 4-1 at Anfield.

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Redknapp delivered his verdict on Liverpool’s title chances under the former Borussia Dortmund manager.

“Liverpool are genuine contenders this year,” Redknapp told BT Sport on Saturday night.

“Their forward play is fantastic – their movement and their passing.”

Redknapp added: “They are excellent. They’ve made some good signings. They’ll be right there this year.”

Liverpool have never won the Premier League title but have finished in second place twice – 2009 and 2014.

The Merseyside club signed Loris Karius, Sadio Mane, Ragnar Klavan, Alex Manninger, Marko Grujic, Joel Matip and Georginio Wijnaldum in the summer transfer window.

The Reds lost to Manchester City and Sevilla in the Europa League final last season.
