Ian Wright delivers verdict on Theo Walcott at Arsenal this season

Ian Wright delivers his verdict on Theo Walcott's strong start to the new season with Arsenal

Ian Wright has told Theo Walcott that he must now prove himself capable of delivering on a consistent basis for Arsenal this season.

The England international continued his fine start to the campaign on Wednesday night by scoring Arsenal’s second goal in their 6-0 thrashing of Ludogorets in the Champions League at The Emirates.

Walcott has now scored eight goals in all competitions for Arsene Wenger’s men as he looks to enjoy his best season so far in an Arsenal shirt.

The 27-year-old looks like a man reborn this season and has proved himself to be worthy of a regular starting spot in the Gunners’ first team.

Now, Arsenal legend Wright wants to see Walcott prove himself as worthy of producing consistent performances for the Gunners all season.

Speaking on BT Sport on Wednesday night, Wright said: “He’s somebody who I’ve always had a lot of faith in.

“He’s said he wants to play on the wing and this season he’s started fantastically.

“He’s gone about everything in the right way and he’s scoring goals. What you want to happen now is for it to continue through the season.”

Arsenal return to Premier League action this weekend with a home clash against Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon.
