Jamie Carragher opens up about Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp

Jamie Carragher is clearly a keen admirer of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp

Jamie Carragher believes that there is no man better suited to the Liverpool job than Jurgen Klopp.

The German coach has just begun his first full season in charge at Anfield after being appointed as Brendan Rodgers’ successor at the club back in October of last year.

Klopp’s side have made a strong start to the new season and currently sit in fourth place in the table, two points behind leaders Manchester City after seven games.

Liverpool have come in for criticism for failing to win the Premier League title in recent seasons.

However, Carragher is convinced that the Merseyside club have the right man at the helm to guide the team forwards.

Speaking in an interview with The Liverpool Echo, Carragher said: “The one man who takes most credit and certainly should take most credit is Jurgen Klopp.

“Maybe the club also for going for Jurgen Klopp. I said when Brendan Rodgers was sacked and Thierry Henry had his hand over my thigh, the only man Liverpool should be going for was Jurgen Klopp, he was the outstanding candidate and available.

“There may have been some people at the time who thought Klopp was looking at teams closer to the top and winning the biggest trophies around because although Liverpool weren’t struggling we weren’t where we wanted to be – hence why Brendan Rodgers lost his job.”

“I think he’s been everything we expected him to be. A fantastic football manager but also a fantastic character and addition to the Premier League.

“I can’t think of anybody else out there who would be a better fit for our club.”
