Jamie Carragher opens up about Man United and Liverpool’s title hopes

Jamie Carragher explains why he thinks that both Liverpool and Manchester United are Premier League title contenders

Jamie Carragher is convinced that both Manchester United and Liverpool will be among the main challengers for the Premier League title this season.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side have made a strong start to the new season and currently sit in fourth place in the top flight table, two points behind leaders Manchester City after seven games.

United’s start has been more mixed, but Jose Mourinho’s men are still only five points off top spot heading into next week’s crunch clash with Liverpool at Anfield.

It is shaping up to be one of the most exciting and unpredictable Premier League seasons in recent history, and former Liverpool star Carragher believes that Mourinho’s experience will be a key factor in United challenging for the title this season.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports News HQ, Carragher said: “The manager [Mourinho] has got great experience – and experience of winning a Premier League, so I certainly wouldn’t write Manchester United off at such an early stage.

“I think them, and hopefully Liverpool, will be in there fighting for the title.”
