Jamie Carragher: This Man United signing one of few positives for Jose Mourinho

The former Liverpool defender hails Eric Bailly as a positive for struggling Manchester United

Jamie Carragher has described Eric Bailly as a Manchester United success story this season.

The Red Devils supporters haven’t had too much to cheer about under Jose Mourinho so far after the former Inter Milan and Real Madrid manager was appointed as Louis van Gaal’s successor in May.

United have lost three Premier League games in the 2016-17 season so far to leave the 20-time English champions six points off the pace in seventh place after nine top-flight games.

Mourinho’s side were soundly beaten 4-0 at Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon but to compound their misery, Bailly suffered a serious knee problem in the second half.

The Ivory Coast international is expected to be sidelined for up to two months with the injury, leaving Mourinho short on options in defence.

Former Liverpool defender Carragher emphasised the blow to United after the retired England international hailed Bailly as one of the few plus points under Mourinho so far.

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of Wednesday night’s Manchester derby, Carragher said:

“Eric Bailly coming in has been one of the few success stories at Manchester United this season.”
