Jermaine Jenas: New Chelsea signing driving force behind 2-0 win over Hull
The former Tottenham midfielder heaps praise on Chelsea signing N'Golo Kante
Jermaine Jenas hailed N’Golo Kante as the driving force behind Chelsea’s 2-0 victory at Hull City.
The west London side ended a three-game winless run at the KCOM Stadium on Saturday afternoon thanks to goals from Willian and Diego Costa.
Antonio Conte’s big-money summer signing struggled during Chelsea’s recent losses to top-four rivals Liverpool and Arsenal last month.
However, former Tottenham midfielder Jenas felt Kante was impressive in his midfield role as Chelsea signed off with three points ahead of the international break.
“Leicester had less possession so he was naturally deeper whereas Chelsea control more games so he is finding himself in more advanced positions on the pitch,” Jenas told BBC One’s Match Of The Day.
“In the second half, he was the catalyst and he was the driving force to take the game to Hull.”
Kante moved to Chelsea in a £34m deal from Premier League champions Leicester City in the summer transfer window.
The France midfielder was impressive as the Blues beat West Ham United, Watford and Burnley in their opening three Premier League games.
Chelsea dropped their first points of the season in a 2-2 draw with Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.
Liverpool were 2-1 winners at Stamford Bridge in mid-September before a 3-0 loss to London rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in their last game in September.
