Jesse Lingard sends warning to Man United fans over Marcus Rashford
Jesse Lingard tells Manchester United fans not to expect too much from Marcus Rashford too soon
Jesse Lingard has told Manchester United fans not to expect too much from Marcus Rashford too soon despite his impressive recent form.
The teenage forward has earned plenty of new admirers since breaking into the Manchester United first team under Louis van Gaal last season.
The striker was rewarded for his fine form with a call-up to Roy Hodgson’s England squad for this summer’s Euro 2016 tournament in France.
Rashford has earned his place in the starting line-up for Manchester United in recent games after new manager Jose Mourinho opted to place his faith in the youngster.
The striker has been included in the senior England squad for their forthcoming World Cup qualifiers, and although Lingard has been very impressed with Rashford’s rise to prominence in recent months, he has moved to remind United fans that he still has a long way to go in terms of his development.
Lingard is quoted as saying by Manchester United’s website: “He’s got a love for the game and every day he’s got a ball at his feet.
“He’s still young as well so I think things are coming together for him just right at the moment, and hopefully he can carry it on.
“Over the months, he has matured a lot from making his debut to now. He’s gained a lot of experience at international level and in the Premier League and other competitions.
“He’s coming along nicely now but we can’t forget he’s only young – he’s still going to grow and he’s still going to be get bigger.
“We’ll have to wait and see what he does after that.”
The Red Devils are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table after seven games of the new season.
