Jesse Lingard’s warning for Chelsea ahead of Man United clash
Jesse Lingard warns Chelsea that Manchester United will head to Stamford Bridge on Sunday full of confidence
Jesse Lingard has warned Chelsea that Manchester United will head into their crunch clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge full of confidence after their 4-1 thrashing of Fenerbahce on Thursday night.
The Red Devils looked to be in impressive form as they secured a thumping victory over their Turkish opponents at Old Trafford to boost their hopes of reaching the last 32 of the competition.
The win came after United were heavily criticised for their defensive approach during the goalless draw with Liverpool at Anfield on Monday night.
Jose Mourinho will be keen to see his side return to winning ways in the Premier League after their recent draws against Stoke City and Liverpool.
The Portuguese coach will also be likely to want to prove a point against his former employers Chelsea when he takes his side to Stamford Bridge.
And Lingard feels that there is a good spirit within the United camp heading into Sunday’s showdown.
Speaking in an interview with United’s website, Lingard said: “I think our confidence is very high now and we’ll now prepare for the next couple of days for the big game on Sunday.
“The home games are key because if we get the majority of points at home, we can take more confidence into the away games. We go to Fenerbahce in a couple of weeks so we will be preparing also for that.”
