John Barnes opens up about Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp

John Barnes has his say on Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp

John Barnes has insisted that he has nothing but positive things to say about Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

The German boss has earned plenty of new admirers since he was appointed as Brendan Rodgers’ successor at Anfield last October.

Klopp endured a somewhat frustrating first season at the club after his side stuttered to an eighth placed finish in the Premier League.

The Reds were also losing finalists in both the League Cup and the Europa League under the German coach’s watch.

However, Liverpool seem to be getting to grips with life under their new manager and the Reds have started the new season in impressive fashion.

Klopp’s side are currently in fourth place in the Premier League table and two points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City.

And Liverpool legend Barnes says he has nothing but good things to say about the new man in charge at Anfield.

Speaking in an interview with The Daily Mirror, Barnes said: “I’ve got nothing but positives about Klopp.

“Even last year, when he came, we didn’t finish in the top four but the fans supported him because they could see what he was trying to do.

“They could see the passion in him and they identified with him. Because of their support and trust, they’re reaping the benefits of it now because this season we’ve been fantastic.”
