Jose Mourinho heaps praise on Man United’s summer signing

Jose Mourinho discusses Zlatan Ibrahimovic's impact at Manchester United so far this season

Jose Mourinho has admitted that he has been thrilled by the impact Zlatan Ibrahimovic has had at Manchester United so far this season.

The 35-year-old striker has proved himself worthy of a regular starting spot in the Red Devils’ first team since his arrival at the club on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

Ibrahimovic has started all eight of United’s Premier League games and has shown himself to be ready to adapt to the rigours of Premier League football.

The veteran forward looks ready to help Mourinho’s United side challenge for silverware this season.

And the Manchester United boss – who was appointed as Louis van Gaal’s successor back in May – has been delighted by the start Ibrahimovic has made at Old Trafford.

Speaking at his Manchester United news conference on Wednesday afternoon, Mourinho said: “He’s giving us exactly what we need from him, what we expect from him.

“I’m really happy. It’s quite beautiful for me to meet him, I don’t know, five or six years later [after our time together at Inter Milan], and see the same ambition, passion and desire to play and compete.

“I couldn’t be happier, and the guy is really fit and ready to play, so I couldn’t be happier.

“In terms of his influence in the dressing room, obviously he’s somebody the young guys look at, you can see he’s great for them because he can only influence them positively.”

Manchester United return to Premier League action this weekend with a crunch clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
