Juan Mata sends warning to Man United ahead of Burnley test

Juan Mata has challenged Manchester United's players to build on their 1-0 win over Manchester City

Juan Mata has warned his Manchester United team-mates that they must continue to give their all as they look to return to winning ways in the Premier League against Burnley on Saturday.

Mata scored the only goal of the game as the Red Devils bounced back to winning ways on Wednesday night with an EFL Cup fourth-round victory over Manchester City at Old Trafford.

New Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has found himself under intense pressure in recent weeks after his side’s disappointing run of form in the Premier League.

Two successive draws against Stoke and Liverpool was followed up by a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

And Mata has told his team-mates that they must make sure they perform on a consistent basis as they prepare to host Burnley at Old Trafford.

Speaking in an interview with United’s website, Mata said: “We need to leave everything on the pitch every single game to win.

“It’s not easy to play against any team. The feeling today is happiness but tomorrow we’ll start thinking about the next game.”
