Kevin Kilbane accuses new Man United signing of sloppiness

The former Everton midfielder hasn't been impressed with Paul Pogba's sloppy performances

Kevin Kilbane says Paul Pogba is too sloppy in possession as Manchester United’s world-record signing continues to struggle at Old Trafford.

The France international moved to United in an £89m move from Serie A giants Juventus in the summer transfer window after months of speculation linking the midfielder with a switch to Old Trafford.

Pogba’s best performance came in a 4-1 win against reigning Premier League champions Leicester City last month after the 23-year-old opened his United account with a header.

However, Pogba has struggled since making his second United debut in a 2-0 win against Southampton at Old Trafford in August.

And former Republic of Ireland midfielder Kilbane wasn’t impressed with Pogba’s careless performance on Sunday afternoon in United’s 1-1 draw with Stoke City.

“He is so sloppy in possession,” Kilbane told Irish radio station Newstalk.

“Having seen the amount of quality in the Manchester United team over the years, taking pride in a five-yard pass and in a first touch…

“I don’t see it with him too often. I saw so much sloppiness from him. He doesn’t do the simple things well. That’s the first thing you look for in a player.”

Pogba was one of United’s four summer signings alongside Ivory Coast international Eric Bailly, former Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
