Laurent Koscielny sends blunt message to Arsenal stars

Laurent Koscielny tells his Arsenal team-mates to keep their feet on the ground this season

Laurent Koscielny has told his Arsenal team-mates that they must stay completely grounded and not get carried away by their strong start to the season.

Arsene Wenger’s men have earned plenty of praise in recent weeks for their impressive performances and took a step closer towards the knockout phase of the Champions League with a thumping 6-0 win over Ludogorets at The Emirates on Wednesday night.

Arsenal are under pressure to finally win the Premier League title for the first time since their move to Emirates Stadium from Highbury.

The Gunners have been contenders in recent years but have failed to show the consistency needed to be champions.

The north London side ended up second in the table last season and 10 points behind surprise champions Leicester City.

And defender Koscielny had a stark warning for his team-mates about the long season ahead.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports before Saturday’s game with Middlesbrough, Koscielny said: “We beat Ludogorets 6-0 but we need to keep our feet on the floor.

“The squad is better, we are more experienced and we have played together a long time.

“The league is very long – it’s a marathon, not a sprint. We can see from last season that it’s difficult to stay high in the table.”
