Laurent Koscielny sends title warning to Arsenal team-mates

Laurent Koscielny has a warning for Arsenal about their Premier League title credentials this season

Laurent Koscielny has warned his Arsenal team-mates that they must continue to win games when they are not playing well if they want to have any hope of winning the Premier League this season.

The north London side have earned plenty of praise for their performances in recent weeks as the Gunners continued their strong start to the season.

Arsene Wenger is finding himself under increasing pressure to deliver a Premier League title at Emirates Stadium after failing to guide the Gunners to the trophy since their famous unbeaten triumph in 2003-04.

But Koscielny has told his team-mates that the Gunners must make sure that they are able to grind out the results when they are not at their best this season.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports ahead of Saturday’s game with Middlesbrough, Koscielny said: “If you want to be champions, you have to win the tough games.

“The most important thing is to win games when you are not playing well. We need to come out of games saying: ‘it was difficult, but we won 1-0’.

“It’s important to have this during the season whenever we have bad moments or when it’s difficult to play our football.

“We need to stay strong like a unit, defend together and win games 1-0, that’s the most important thing.”
