Dwight Yorke states prediction for Liverpool v Man United
The Manchester United legend is tipping Jose Mourinho's side to get a positive result at Liverpool
Dwight Yorke has backed Manchester United to get something from their trip to Liverpool if Jose Mourinho gets his tactics right at Anfield on Monday night.
The Red Devils dropped points in their most recent Premier League fixture after David De Gea’s mistake allowed Joe Allen to cancel out Anthony Martial’s opener at Old Trafford in a 1-1 draw with Stoke City.
Mourinho’s side lost back-to-back Premier League games against Manchester City and Watford before the Red Devils ended their losing run with an emphatic 4-1 win against reigning champions Leicester City.
United are in sixth place in the Premier League table but three points behind Monday night’s opponents Liverpool, who occupy the final Champions League qualifying spot.
However, Yorke, who was part of Sir Alex Ferguson’s treble-winning side in 1999, is confident Mourinho can come up with a master plan to get a positive result at Anfield.
“Mourinho is a man who has been around with great success and if he plays the right team and system we will get something from it,” said Yorke, speaking exclusively to 888sport.
“There is more fluency in the side now but under Klopp Liverpool are full of confidence and playing some good football now. Going to Anfield is never easy as I know from my experiences there.”
United lost 2-0 to Liverpool in their most-recent trip to Anfield after Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge scored in a 2-0 win in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 clash earlier this year.
