Gary Neville says Manchester United would settle for a point ahead of their trip to bitter rivals Liverpool at Anfield on Monday night.

The Red Devils will look to make a swift return to winning ways on Merseyside after former Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen scored a late equaliser to force United to settle for a point in a 1-1 draw with Stoke City in their last Premier League game before the international break.

The 20-time English champions have beaten Liverpool in their last two Premier League meetings but Jurgen Klopp’s side were 3-1 aggregate winners over two legs when the bitter north-west rivals met in Europe for the first time in the Europa League last 16 earlier this year.

However, former United defender Neville admitted that the Red Devils would be content to avoid losing to an in-form Liverpool side.

“If you handed Jose a draw now – or any United fan – you would take it,” Neville told Sky Sports.

“That sounds really negative, but the way Liverpool are at the moment then it’s about not losing and taking your battles down the road somewhere else.”

United have collected four points from a possible 12 in their last four Premier League games.
