The 18-time English champions have been in excellent form over the past four Premier League games after netting victories over Leicester City, Chelsea, Hull City and Swansea City.
In fact, Liverpool are unbeaten in their last five top-flight games since a surprise 2-0 loss to promoted side Burnley at Turf Moor in their second game of the 2016-17 campaign.
Jose Mourinho’s side have been stuttering in the Premier League in recent weeks after managing to collect just four points from a possible 12 ahead of the international break.
Former Liverpool defender Carragher doesn’t believe United manager Mourinho will have any trouble dealing with a hostile atmosphere at Anfield given his two spells in charge of Chelsea.
“I think Liverpool have to go in as slight favourites because of the start we’ve made and because we’re at home, but we thought that last season and United got a 1-0 win at Anfield,” Carragher told United’s website.
“I’m sure Jose Mourinho will be looking for the same result. Even though he’s never managed in a Liverpool/Man United game before, his rivalry with Liverpool when he was Chelsea manager was pretty big so he’ll be well aware of the atmosphere at Anfield.”
United have lost to Premier League leaders Manchester City and Watford in the 2016-17 Premier League season so far, while only Burnley have beaten Klopp’s Liverpool side.
The Reds are in fourth place and three points ahead of United.
