Charlie Nicholas states prediction for Liverpool v Tottenham
The Arsenal legend is tipping Liverpool to edge to victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup on Tuesday night
Charlie Nicholas is backing Liverpool to edge to victory over Tottenham Hotspur with the help of Adam Lallana in the League Cup on Tuesday night.
The Merseyside outfit will take on the north London club for the second time this season after a 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane in August.
England defender Danny Rose cancelled out James Milner’s opener in the Premier League clash to deny Jurgen Klopp’s side three points.
The Reds have won five of their last six Premier League games since that stalemate to underline their title credentials.
Tottenham remain unbeaten in the English top flight but have drawn their last three games in all competitions in the absence of Harry Kane.
Former Arsenal midfielder Nicholas believes Lallana will help to fire Liverpool to victory over Tottenham in the fourth round of the League Cup.
“Spurs are well drilled and Liverpool can be frustrated, as we’ve seen in recent games, failing to break down Manchester United then falling over the line at the weekend against West Brom after we got very excited about them,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.
“I’m finding this a tough one to call and it could go either way, but I’m going for Liverpool on home advantage.”
Liverpool are in third place in the Premier League table but level on points with leaders Manchester City.
Tottenahm, on the other hand, are in fifth place and a point adrift of City, Arsenal and Liverpool.
