Mark Lawrenson states prediction for Liverpool v West Brom
The former Liverpool defender is confident Jurgen Klopp's side can ease to a 3-0 win against West Brom
Mark Lawrenson is tipping Liverpool to ease to a 3-0 victory over West Brom at Anfield on Saturday evening.
The Reds are in fourth place in the Premier League table and two points behind current leaders Manchester City and second-place Arsenal.
Liverpool kept their first clean sheet of the 2016-17 season on Monday night after a goalless draw with the Red Devils at Anfield.
The Merseyside club are unbeaten in their last six Premier League games after victories over defending champions Leicester City and Chelsea.
Former Liverpool defender Lawrenson believes Jurgen Klopp’s side will secure three points if the Reds can avoid conceding from a set-piece.
“The key for Liverpool will be dealing with West Brom’s set-pieces,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“I was at Anfield for this fixture last season, a 2-2 draw that saw the Baggies bully them and punish them at corners and free-kicks.
“The Reds also have to be careful that they don’t over-elaborate in attack when Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho are on the ball.
“Both Brazilians are outstanding players but it is frustrating when they try a lot of clever flicks when they should just look to hold the ball up and bring other players into the game.
“I do still think Jurgen Klopp’s side will create the most chances, however. If they can take them, they will win.”
Liverpool have conceded from a corner in four of their last five Premier League games this season.
The 18-time English champions have only lost 2-0 to promoted side Burnley at Turf Moor.
Klopp’s side are the second-highest goal-scorers in the Premier League behind Manchester City and Arsenal.
Liverpool played out successive stalemates with the Baggies in the top flight last term.
