Loris Karius lifts lid on conversation with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp
Loris Karius explains how Jurgen Klopp convinced him to sign for Liverpool in the summer transfer window
Loris Karius has lifted the lid on how Jurgen Klopp convinced him to sign for Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
Klopp opted to bring in the goalkeeper from German side Mainz as direct competition for Simon Mignolet at Anfield.
Indeed, Karius was immediately given the number one shirt on Merseyside following his arrival at Liverpool.
Karius’s introduction to the first team was delayed by a broken hand suffered during pre-season.
However, the shot-stopper has been a regular fixture in the starting line-up at Anfield since his return to full fitness.
And the goalkeeper has lifted the lid on how a conversation with Klopp over the summer convinced him that a move to the Merseyside outfit was the right one for him.
Speaking in an interview with Sport-Bild, as quoted by The Daily Express, Karius said: “He is a big personality everyone listens to. He briefly introduced himself on the phone, and then we had a long chat.
“I had a good feeling because he’s such pleasant guy.
“We talked about this and that, and I soon realised that we are talking the same language. It was immediately clear to me that I wanted to move to Liverpool.”
Liverpool return to Premier League action on Saturday with a trip to Crystal Palace in the day’s late kick-off.
