Man United fan Olly Murs makes reluctant but honest admission about Liverpool

Singer and lifelong Manchester United fan Olly Murs has been impressed by Liverpool this season

Singer Olly Murs has admitted that Liverpool are looking in incredibly good form as they prepare for their crunch Premier League clash against Manchester United at Anfield next week.

The pop star is a lifelong Manchester United fan but accepts that the Reds are playing very well under new manager Jurgen Klopp this season.

Liverpool have made a strong start to the 2016-17 campaign and are currently in fourth place in the Premier League table heading into next Monday night’s showdown at Anfield.

Manchester United, meanwhile, have not been as consistent as new boss Jose Mourinho would have liked, and the Red Devils are currently five points adrift of Premier League leaders Manchester City after seven games.

United head to Anfield knowing that a win would close the gap to their bitter local rivals down to one point.

But Murs admits that the visitors will have their work cut out in trying to get a result on Merseyside.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports News HQ, Murs said: “It’s a big game. Liverpool at Anfield, no matter how they’re playing it’s a difficult place to go. We’ve been there when they’ve been mid-table over the years and they’ve been brilliant.

“It’s a big game for the fans and both clubs and Liverpool are always a great side. At the moment they’re one of the most exciting teams in the league. They’ve been absolutely phenomenal really.

“As a United fan it pains me to say that but they’ve got great support and a great team at the moment. Jurgen Klopp’s got them exactly where he wants them.”
