Man United star Juan Mata sends heartfelt message to Chelsea fans

Juan Mata thanks Chelsea's fans for showing him respect and affection during Manchester United's 4-0 loss

Juan Mata has thanked Chelsea fans for showing him “respect” during Manchester United’s 4-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

The Blues ran riot against Jose Mourinho’s men and raced into a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Pedro Rodriguez and Gary Cahill.

Strikes from Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante then wrapped up a thumping 4-0 victory for Chelsea and condemned Manchester United to a miserable afternoon.

Mata was twice voted as Chelsea’s player of the year before he secured a transfer to the club’s Premier League rivals United back in January 2014.

However, the Spaniard has plenty of praise for the supporters after his difficult trip back to west London on Sunday afternoon.

Writing in his personal blog, Mata said: “Thank you so much to the [United] fans that came to London, you didn’t stop cheering us on through the 90 minutes, even when things became so difficult, you guys are amazing; and also to the Chelsea fans, for they always show me their respect and affection.”
