Marcos Rojo comments on his Man United future under Jose Mourinho

Marcos Rojo insists that he is determined to fight for his place at Manchester United this season

Marcos Rojo has insisted that he determined to fight for his first team place at Manchester United under Jose Mourinho this season.

The Argentina defender’s future at Old Trafford was thrown into doubt after Mourinho moved quickly to make centre-half Eric Bailly his first signing of the summer transfer window.

Bailly has been a regular fixture in the Manchester United first team and has impressed in the heart of the Red Devils’ defence so far this season.

The 26-year-old Rojo has found his first team opportunities at Old Trafford somewhat limited this season, with the defender yet to feature in the Premier League for United.

He has, however, made four appearances in other competitions for the Red Devils this term.

It remains to be seen whether Rojo will feature as a bigger part of Mourinho’s plans in the coming weeks and months, but the defender himself says he is determined to fight for his place at Old Trafford.

Speaking in an interview with AS, as quoted by The Daily Mail, Rojo said: “Many people spoke a lot about how he [Mourinho] did not want me.

“But from the first day he arrived he told me I was in his thoughts and he would tell me [if I wasn’t].

“He is a very good coach and is very demanding, I like his way of thinking and dealing with players – I got a big surprise. I want to work hard to earn more time on the pitch.”
