Martin Keown warns Jose Mourinho about Liverpool v Man United

Martin Keown says a defeat for Manchester United at Liverpool on Monday would all but end their title hopes

Martin Keown has warned Jose Mourinho that Manchester United’s trip to Liverpool on Monday night could make or break his side’s season.

The Red Devils head into the game looking to return to winning ways after the disappointment of their 1-1 draw with Stoke City before the international break.

Mourinho’s side have made a stuttering start to the new season and are yet to really click into gear under their new manager.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are in fine form and only trail Premier League leaders Manchester City by two points heading into Monday’s game.

The Reds have already secured impressive wins over the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Leicester City so far this season.

And former Arsenal defender Keown feels that a defeat for Mourinho’s men at Anfield would all but spell the end of their Premier League title hopes.

Writing in his column for The Daily Mail, Keown said: “With Jose Mourinho, it’s as if he feels the like the whole world is against him. It feels like United are at a crossroads for their season.

“Lose to Liverpool, and it looks like they won’t be champions this year.

“It will be very painful for United if they lose, but victory would lift the team and help them move forward in their new regime.”
