Mauricio Pochettino makes honest admission about Tottenham’s title hopes

Mauricio Pochettino admits that Tottenham must beat stubborn opponents if they want to win the title

Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that his Tottenham side must win games like their draw with Bournemouth on Saturday if they want to challenge for the Premier League title this season.

The Spurs manager watched his side play out a goalless draw with Eddie Howe’s men at Dean Court as they were frustrated by the home side.

The result marked Tottenham’s second draw in a row in the Premier League and came as a blow to Spurs’ hopes of mounting a serious title challenge this season.

Pochettino’s men were Leicester City’s closest challengers in the top flight last season but ended up third in the table behind the champions and Arsenal.

And the Tottenham manager has admitted that his team will need to find a way to break down stubborn opponents if they want to be contenders this season.

Pochettino is quoted as saying by BBC Sport: “We missed a bit of freshness that you need in the first 15 minutes.

“If we want to be contenders, we need to win games like these.

“Maybe we need more depth in the squad to avoid a situation like the first 15 minutes.”
