Mesut Ozil sends message to Arsenal star after Reading win

Mesut Ozil was thrilled to see Olivier Giroud back in action for Arsenal on Tuesday night

Mesut Ozil has taken to social media to welcome Olivier Giroud back to the Arsenal first-team after the striker was a second-half substitute during the 2-0 win over Reading in the League Cup on Tuesday night.

The French forward had been sidelined with an injury picked up on the opening weekend of the season but finally made his return for the Gunners in the League Cup fourth-round win at The Emirates.

Giroud was a second-half substitute but was unable to find a goal on his return to the Arsenal side.

Nevertheless, Ozil was clearly thrilled to see the forward back in action for the Gunners, as Arsenal now turn their attentions towards their Premier League trip to Sunderland on Saturday lunchtime.

Ozil posted the following update on Twitter after Tuesday night’s game:

Giroud will be hoping to be involved when Arsenal return to top-flight action on Saturday with a clash against Sunderland.

The Gunners are looking to return to winning ways after their goalless draw with Middlesbrough at the weekend.
