Michael Owen has a blunt warning for Manchester United ahead of their clash with Liverpool

Michael Owen has warned Manchester United that the Red Devils are set to face their biggest test of the season so far when they take on Liverpool after the international break.

The Red Devils were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Stoke City on Sunday afternoon despite dominating much of the game at Old Trafford.

Anthony Martial saw his opening goal cancelled out by Joe Allen’s late strike at Old Trafford as Jose Mourinho’s men were forced to settle for a point in front of their home fans.

The result left United with 13 points from their opening seven Premier League games so far this season.

Next up for the Red Devils is a crunch clash against bitter local rivals Liverpool at Anfield after the international break.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have been in fine form so far this season and former Red Devils striker Owen is expecting United to endure a stern test against the Merseyside outfit.

Speaking on BT Sport after United’s 1-1 draw on Sunday, Owen said: “I think the big game is the next one. Liverpool are going to test them to the hills.

“The way Liverpool are playing at the moment, the way they’re opening up teams – I think this is going to be their biggest test.”
