Micky Quinn: This is my only worry for Tottenham in title race
The Newcastle legend isn't sure whether Tottenham can cope with the demands of the title race and the Champions League
Micky Quinn believes the Champions League could prove a distraction for Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League title race.
The Lilywhites underlined their status as contenders to win the Premier League crown this season with an impressive 2-0 win against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side in their most-recent top-flight game.
Tottenham are the only club in the Premier League still left unbeaten after seven games so far following five victories and two stalemates in an impressive start to the 2016-17 campaign.
The north London club are in second place and a point behind the Citizens ahead of their trip to West Bromwich Albion in their next Premier League on Saturday 15 October.
However, former Newcastle United striker Quinn is concerned that Tottenham’s exploits in Europe could derail their bid to win a first-ever Premier League crown.
“The only worry for them is Europe, and so many games catching up with them. Harry Kane is still out. They’ll want him back as quickly as possible,” Quinn told the Alan Brazil Up Front podcast.
Tottenham lost 2-1 to Ligue 1 side AS Monaco in their Champions League group-stage opener in September.
However, the Lilywhites were 1-0 winners against Russian side CSKA Moscow in their last European outing.
