Granit Xhaka has thanked Arsenal fans for his new nickname following his strong start to life at The Emirates.

The Switzerland international has scored two superb goals for the Gunners since arriving at the club in the summer transfer window, and some supporters have branded the midfielder “Xhakaboom” following the impressive strikes.

Xhaka has been a regular fixture in the Arsenal first team since his arrival at the club and will be hoping to build on his strong start after the international break.

And the midfielder has revealed his delight at hearing of his new nickname.

Speaking in an interview with Arsenal Player, Xhaka said: “That’s really special, Xhakaboom.

“I don’t know where the ‘boom’ comes from, maybe it’s because of my shots. To have a nickname like that so early on makes me proud.”
