New Liverpool signing delivers glowing verdict on Man United’s David De Gea

Loris Karius is a big fan of Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea

Loris Karius has heaped praise on David De Gea after Liverpool’s goalless draw with Manchester United on Monday night.

The Reds were limited to just three shots on target as the Red Devils adopted a conservative approach to the bitter Premier League clash at Anfield.

De Gea had to be alert in the second half to deny Emre Can with an instinctive save before the United number one pushed Philippe Coutinho’s long-range attempt to safety.

The Spain international has been named United’s player of the season in 2014, 2015 and 2016 to underline his importance to the 20-time English champions.

And his Liverpool rival Karius is a big fan of the Spanish shot stopper after watching the United star at close quarters at Anfield on Monday night.

“He’s enjoyed great development over the last few years and you can just see he gets better and better,” Karius told Goal as quoted by Liverpool’s website.

“He’s right up there among the very best in the world, playing at a consistently high level and is a top goalkeeper.”

Karius moved to Liverpool in a £4.7m deal from Bundesliga side Mainz in the summer transfer window.

The Germany Under-21 international kept his first clean sheet on Monday night.
