Mark Lawrenson states prediction for Bournemouth v Tottenham
The former Liverpool defender is tipping Bournemouth to secure a point against Tottenham Hotspur
Mark Lawrenson is backing Tottenham Hotspur to drop points at Bournemouth in the Premier League’s early kick-off on Saturday afternoon.
The north London side have managed to avoid a Premier League defeat in their opening eight games to leave Mauricio Pochettino’s side in third place.
Tottenham are the only Premier League club still unbeaten in the 2016-17 season, including a 2-0 victory over leaders Manchester City.
Bournemouth were impressive 6-1 winners against promoted side Hull City at the Vitality Stadium last weekend.
Former Liverpool defender Lawrenson believes Bournemouth can peg back Tottenham on the south coast in the Premier League this weekend.
“The Cherries thumped Hull last week and are going well, with only one defeat in their past six league games,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“Eddie Howe’s side have built up a bit of momentum and have got goals in them as well and, like their trip to West Brom last week, this is a tough one for Tottenham.
“Dele Alli’s late equaliser against the Baggies maintained their unbeaten start to the league season.
“But they relied on goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to get them a draw at Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday, and I don’t think they have picked up where they left off before the international break at the start of the month.
“Spurs went to the south coast and stuck five goals past Bournemouth this time last year but I see a different outcome this time.”
Tottenham have already beaten Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Stoke City, Manchester City and Middlesbrough.
The north London side scored eight times against the Cherries last season in two Premier League victories against Eddie Howe’s side.
Pochettino’s side are a point behind leaders Manchester City and second-placed Arsenal in the title race.
Spurs played out a goalless draw with Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
