Owen Hargreaves warns Man United over Paul Pogba ahead of Chelsea clash
Owen Hargreaves comments on Paul Pogba's start to the season under Jose Mourinho at Manchester United
Owen Hargreaves has warned Manchester United that the Red Devils could face another “Angel Di Maria situation” if they are unable to get the best form out of Paul Pogba this season.
The France midfielder has come in for some criticism for failing to deliver on a regular basis for Jose Mourinho’s men since his arrival back at Old Trafford from Juventus in the summer transfer window.
Pogba went some way towards answering some of his critics with a man of the match performance and two goals against Fenerbahce in the Europa League on Thursday night.
However, former United star Hargreaves feels that Pogba has some way to go before finding his best form for the Red Devils this term.
Speaking on BT Sport before United’s clash with Fenerbahce on Thursday night, Hargreaves said: “The problem is that he [Pogba] has had different roles in this team.
“I think the most important thing for him, and he’s a world-class player, is the partner next to him. I don’t think they’ve found that.
“United run the risk of having another ‘Angel Di Maria situation’, where they had one of the best players in the world playing all these different positions and then a year later he is out of the door.
“Give it time, find the balance of the team, and they’ll be fine.”
Manchester United have drawn their last two Premier League games – against Stoke City and Liverpool on Monday night at Anfield.
