Owen Hargreaves: Why I’d join Tottenham ahead of Man United
The former Manchester United midfielder says Mauricio Pochettino is building something special at Tottenham Hotspur
Owen Hargreaves says he would join Tottenham Hotspur ahead of Liverpool or Manchester United if he was a promising young player.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side were one of the Premier League’s most-impressive performers last season as the Lilywhites challenged Leicester City for the title throughout most of the 2015-16 season.
The north London finished in third place and 11 points behind the surprise English champions after a four-game winless end to the season.
However, Tottenham have started the new campaign in impressive style and Pochettino’s outfit are the only unbeaten Premier League clubs after eight games.
Dele Alli’s added-time equaliser rescued a point for the north Londoners at the Hawthorns Stadium on Saturday afternoon after Nacer Chadli broke the deadlock against his former employers.
Asked whether he would prefer to join Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool or Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United on BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight show, Hargreaves replied:
“If I was a young player now, I’d pick Spurs.
“With the manager and young players that they have, they’re building something special. [I’d want] to be a part of that Spurs revolution. Hopefully the players can stay together with the manager because he makes every player better.”
Tottenham are in third place in the Premier League table and a point behind leaders Manchester City.
