Per Mertesacker makes exciting prediction about Theo Walcott at Arsenal

Per Mertesacker says there is a lot more to come from Theo Walcott for Arsenal this season

Per Mertesacker says that there is plenty more to come from Theo Walcott this season for Arsenal.

The forward has earned plenty of praise for his performances for the north London club so far this term and looks to have a renewed desire to fight for his place after missing out on a place in the England squad at Euro 2016.

Walcott has scored against both Chelsea and Basel this season with composed finishes and will be expecting to feature once again when the Gunners return to Premier League action against Swansea City after the international break.

The England international has faced plenty of criticism in recent seasons for his failure to perform consistently for Arsenal since his transfer to the club from Southampton back in 2006.

However, Arsenal defender Mertesacker is expecting big things from Walcott in the coming weeks and months at The Emirates.

Speaking in an interview with 101 Great Goals, Mertesacker said: “We have many very good players in our squad. For sure, Theo and Alexis are among them.

“And Theo needs to stay fit. As long as he does I expect a lot more to come. We need him.”
