Phil Neville makes claim about Man United’s League Cup draw
Phil Neville has his say on Manchester United's League Cup quarter-final draw against West Ham
Phil Neville believes that Manchester United will be very happy with their League Cup quarter-final draw against West Ham United at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils booked their place in the last eight of the EFL Cup thanks to their 1-0 win over derby rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
United were then immediately handed a home tie against West Ham United in the quarter-finals of the competition as they search for their first piece of silverware under new manager Jose Mourinho.
And former Manchester United defender Neville feels that the Red Devils will be very happy with their draw against the Hammers, who were 2-1 winners over Chelsea on Wednesday night.
Speaking on Sky Sports immediately after the draw was made, Neville said: “I think they’ll be happy with the draw.
“If there was ever a year to get the trophy, this would be it. Jose likes to win this trophy – he’s won it more than any other foreign manager.
“I think West Ham will change their team – United won’t, as they’ve shown tonight. It’s a great opportunity.”
Manchester United now turn their attentions back to Premier League affairs and their home clash against Burnley at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils were thrashed 4-0 by Chelsea in their most recent Premier League outing last weekend.
