Phil Neville makes special claim about Tottenham midfielder

The former Manchester United defender heaps praise on Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli

Phil Neville has backed Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli to blossom into a special player.

The England international has started to find his best form in recent weeks after scoring in back-to-back Premier League games to help the north London side extend their unbeaten start to the 2016-17 season.

Alli netted Tottenham’s second goal in a 2-0 victory over Premier League leaders Manchester City at White Hart Lane in their final fixture before the international break.

The 20-year-old salvaged a point for Mauricio Pochettino’s side at The Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon after the Tottenham midfielder netted an added-time equaliser.

Former England and Manchester United defender Neville was particularly impressed with Alli’s influential performance against the Baggies.

“I think this lad is going to be a special, special player,” Neville told BBC One’s Match Of The Day.

“Alli had four chances in the game, and with Harry Kane not playing, he is having to be the centre-forward that creates chances. He is such an intelligent player.”

Tottenham are in third place in the Premier League table behind City and Arsenal after their 1-1 draw with West Brom.

The Lilywhites have won five games and drawn three times as Pochettino’s side remain the only club unbeaten in the Premier League this term.
