The Manchester United midfielder is thrilled to help his team-mates secure a derby win in the League Cup

Ander Herrera was absorbing the feeling of winning the Manchester derby on Instagram on Wednesday night after Manchester United’s 1-0 victory over Manchester City.

The uncapped Spanish midfielder started in the heart of the United midfield alongside stand-in captain Michael Carrick and world-record signing Paul Pogba.

Herrera’s compatriot Juan Mata broke the deadlock early in the second half thanks to a close-range finish past Manchester City number two Willy Callaberlo at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils managed to play out the League Cup clash without any hiccups and booked their place in the quarter-finals against West Ham United.

United midfielder Herrera posted the above snap on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption:

“Great feelings today, the derby is for us! 🔴🔴”

The Red Devils are in seventh place and six points behind leaders Manchester City in the title race.

Jose Mourinho’s side will host promoted outfit Burnley in their next Premier League game on Saturday afternoon.
