Chris Smalling has taken to social media to indicate that he is hoping to be fit for Manchester United’s trip to Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.

There were concerns about Smalling’s fitness levels after the defender was forced off at half-time during United’s 4-1 win over Fenerbahce at Old Trafford in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Speaking after Thursday’s game, Jose Mourinho said he was hopeful that the problem was not serious and that the England international would be fit for the trip to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

And the defender himself has appeared to suggest that he is expecting to be fit for Sunday’s game via a post on his personal Instagram account.

Smalling posted the picture above on the app and wrote: “Good win tonight! All focus now on Sunday!🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴”

United head into Sunday’s game looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League after their goalless draw with Liverpool at Anfield on Monday night.
