Granit Xhaka lavished praise on Alexis Sanchez as Arsenal edged to a 4-1 victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday afternoon.

The Switzerland midfielder was forced to sit out the Premier League clash as the summer signing served the last fixture of his three-game suspension for his red card in Arsenal’s 3-2 win against Swansea City.

Sanchez broke the deadlock in the first half with a brilliant header to edge the Gunners closer to three points following their stalemate with Middlesbrough at The Emirates Stadium last weekend.

However, Jermain Defoe restored parity in the 62nd minute from the penalty spot after Petr Cech was adjudged to have brought down Duncan Whatmore in the Arsenal penalty area.

Arsene Wenger introduced Olivier Giroud in search of a winner and the France international scored twice inside five second-half minutes to seal three points for the visitors.

And Sanchez polished off the victory with his second goal of the Premier League game to leave Arsenal top of the table ahead of the rest of Saturday’s fixtures.

Xhaka posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption:

“👉Alexis gives us the advantage in 20 minutes, way to go guys!👌 #SFCvAFC #Arsenal #GX29 #SlayTheNextGiant #UnderArmour”
