The Arsenal midfielder is disappointed with Saturday's goalless draw with Middlesbrough at The Emirates
Mesut Ozil has admitted Arsenal weren’t happy with Saturday’s goalless draw with Middlesbrough at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners were hoping to record a seventh successive Premier League win after an impressive run that had hoisted Arsenal to second place.
However, Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Ozil were unable to penetrate the Arsenal defence despite the trio getting on the score sheet in the north London side’s 6-0 victory over Ludogorets in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
While Arsenal dropped points against the promoted side on Saturday afternoon, their stalemate was enough to send the Gunners to the top of the Premier League ahead of Sunday’s fixtures.
But Ozil posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption as he emphasised that Arsenal must do better.
“P1 for the moment, but 0-0 at the Emirates was not the desired result. Nevertheless, we’ll keep our heads up and stay positive! 👊⚽ #COYG #AFCvMFC @Arsenal @premierleague”
Ozil moved to Arsenal in a £42.5m deal from La Liga outfit Real Madrid in the summer transfer window in 2013.
The Germany international scored his first professional hat-trick last week in Arsenal’s 6-0 win over Ludogorets.
