Marcos Alonso has been hitting the gym ahead of Chelsea's showdown with Manchester United on Sunday

Marcos Alonso was determined to prove himself in the gym as Chelsea prepare to welcome Manchester United to Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Blues head into the game looking to make it three wins in a row in the Premier League after their recent victories over Hull City and Leicester City.

Alonso joined the west London club in the summer transfer window but the 25-year-old has only made two Premier League starts for Antonio Conte’s men so far this term.

The Spaniard will be hoping to be involved when Jose Mourinho returns to Stamford Bridge for the first time since his sacking by Chelsea back in December.

And the 25-year-old defender showed himself to be working hard in the gym ahead of Sunday’s crunch clash at Stamford Bridge.

Alonso posted the picture above on his personal Instagram account and wrote: “Yesterday at the gym. Getting ready! #CFC 🔵💪🏼”
