Ray Parlour: Why Arsenal can win the Premier League title

The Gunners legend is feeling optimistic about Arsenal's title prospects

Ray Parlour believes Arsenal are in a position to win the Premier League title this season.

The Gunners are level on points with Premier League leaders Manchester City after a 3-2 victory over Swansea City at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The north London side have won their last six Premier League games to bolster their prospects of ending a 12-year title drought in the 2016-17 top-flight campaign.

Arsene Wenger signed Switzerland international Granit Xhaka, Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi and Deportivo La Coruna striker Lucas Perez in the summer to bolster his squad.

Former Arsenal midfielder Parlour, who was part of Wenger’s last squad to win the Premier League in 2004, believes the Gunners have the necessary quality to launch a sustained title bid.

“Arsenal have every opportunity [to win the league] this season because they’ve built on their squad,” Parlour told the Alan Brazil Up Front podcast.

Arsenal will host promoted side Middlesbrough in their next Premier League game at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
